The Headteacher and staff of Clipstone Brook have always been extremely keen on Outdoor Learning. We feel that learning outside provides opportunities that are simply unavailable in the a classroom setting. Our school is very fortunate to be blessed with considerable outside space and it has been a long term aim of ours to become a Forest School.
Our Forest School will become a crucial part of our curriculum. Every child will have the option to take part in Forest School sessions and over time will participate in some of the following activities:
|Bush craft||Campfire Cooking||Den Building|
|Fire-lighting||Knot Tying||Natural Art|
|Plant Identification||Problem Solving||Woodland Craft|
|Scavenger Hunt||Story Telling|
Unlike classroom lessons, children are not necessarily expected to complete certain tasks; they are able to choose other things to do. Forest School provides children with exploration opportunities and allows their creative freedom to expand and develop their own initiative. Children will be taught how to use tools such as peelers, knives, saws and drills as part of their learning. They will also enjoy a hot chocolate and marshmallows around the camp fire.
Our Forest School is set in our extensive grounds including the wooded area and pond for the children to explore.
