ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS AND TRANSFER

All parents are warmly encouraged to visit the school and discuss matters with the Headteacher. This can be arranged by contacting the Office Manager on 01525 376085.

We have a maximum of 75 children for Reception, Year 1 & 2 with 45 in years 3 and 4.  (This will increase to 75 in Year 3 from September 2018 with a maximum of 45 in year 4).

Admission to the Foundation Stage

The Foundation Stage consists of two groups, Nursery and Reception.

We have limited part-time spaces for nursery aged children (the term they turn four). These are specifically for children who intend to come to Clipstone Brook for their full-time education. A place in Nursery does not guarantee a Reception place.

Admittance to Nursery is based on age. Children can attend from the term they are four years of age.  We can offer up to fifteen places per session. Morning places are usually filled first but this may vary depending on numbers. Children are admitted each term according to the number of places available. To access these spaces parents / carers can put their child’s name on the waiting list in the school office after their third birthday.

Reception intake is in the September of each year, a maximum of 75 children are offered a full-time place with the option of attending part-time until the term they turn five.

During the term prior to starting either Nursery or Reception you and your child will be invited to a Parents’ Information and play session where you will become acquainted with the school and the Foundation Stage staff.

Every effort is made to ensure an easy transition into Clipstone Brook. Staff will arrange home visits for all new children and will make arrangements to visit children in their pre-school settings wherever possible.

The school cannot guarantee a space in either Nursery or Reception. All reception places are allocated by Central Bedfordshire County

Parents / carers need to complete and return applications to Admissions at Central Bedfordshire by the end of the Autumn Term prior to entrance to the Reception year (Please refer to the county web site for more details). These should be submitted either:

  •  Post: School Admissions Service, Central Bedfordshire Council, Watling House, High Street North, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, LU6 1LF

Transfer to Middle School

In Central Bedfordshire, children transfer from Lower to Middle Schools at the age of 9 (end of year 4).

To aid a smooth and happy transition, the children visit their new middle school for a couple of days during the summer term.
